Mom...Mama...Friend...

I have a block in writing today. Not because there is not a thousand words that come to my mind, when I think about my mom. Oh, how I could keep you all day, talking about her & her goodness. I have heard many words from daughters today. For some reason words diminish the sacred role in which my mom fulfilled in my life. The love between my mom & me is a language of the heart, between her heart & mine. So I would fumble in interpreting what the message is from me to her. In the meekest of terms, I say, I LOVE YOU. THANK YOU.

Spaghetti Night!

Brown, 1 pound of lean, (but not too lean) hamburger. I like the 90/10 grade. Season with salt, pepper, & TONY'S!! I'm Livin' Louisiana!...remember. (See www.livinlouisiana.blogspot.com)

The way to use fresh garlic is that you 1st...take your knife & 'smush' the garlic clove. This cracks the outer shell, that you will peel off. I use 5 or more of these cloves. More or less, depending on how much you like garlic. I like! I use 6!

After you cut off the tiny ends, you then put the peeled clove into the garlic thinga-ma-doo.....garlic press! That's it...the name is garlic press...(I think). Place the mushed garlic into a skillet with 3 Tablespoons of Olive oil. Saute' on low..very low. Saute' is a fancy word for, 'put on low...very low'!

Next, chop up 1 onion. (My son is doing that right now). Place the onion with the fresh garlic in the skillet to saute'.

Next item on the chopping block...get it...chopping block. ANYWAY.. 1/2 cup of green pepper & 1/2 cup of red pepper. You can add more if you like. I like! Add the peppers to the garlic/onion/olive oil mixture. 'Saute-ing on medium' until vegetables are tender.

Can you smell the wonderful aroma?

Add the browned hamburger & the sauteed veggies, (I love that word...saute') to your favorite marinara base. It can be your own, made from tomato paste, or if you are in a hurry, a jarred marinara. I like Great-Value plain Spaghetti Sauce.

Add 1/2 to 1 tablespoon of each of the above spices. Depending on how much "spice" you like. I like! Also, add 1/8 of sugar. Sugar..really? Really! Trust me on this. Are we clear? Crystal! Are we clear? (What movie does that come from?)

Simmer the sauce on medium-low...low-medium? Which ever!

Next, bring a large pot of water to boil water with approx. 2 tsp. of oil. (To keep the noodles from sticking

Once the water is a full rolling boil, add Barilla pasta. Trust me. There is no other pasta. All other pasta heard about Barilla, and they went into retirement. I use about 1/2 to 3/4 of a large box. Drain noodles. Then, take your fabulous marinara meat sauce & pour it over the noodles. Mix thoroughly & pour fresh mozzarella & Parmesan cheese over the top!

Then.....yell...."DIIINNNNNEEERRR!"

An Entrance...

An Entrance to my home. Tall people can walk through my door & into my home. I love my tall door & my tall ceilings. A 9 ft. man can come into my home.

Old meets new.

Geraniums with impatiens. My drug of choice this year.

Wipe your feet! Notice the fleur de lis? Notice the white lemon tree blossoms? When you approach, the lemon tree blossoms smell fabulous. Even Honey, stops to smell the lemon blossoms. The lemon blossoms stop to smell him.

I love this entrance. I might kiss Honey by this entrance.

Grandparent idea....

If you are a grandparent that lives away from your small grand children, or if you are a parent of smaller children, & wish that your kids could connect with their grandparents in another way... I have a tip for ya'! Kids love to be read to at night & it is really, really good for them! Did I say really good for them? Have their grandparents read several books & record their voice reading the books. Then, they can send the books, plus the recording. It gives you an extra hand at night, when you are trying to get them to bed. Trust me, they will love it. Plus, it will keep their grandparents voice, familiar to them, & more than just a voice that is 5 minutes on the phone. What say you?

Reflection....

OK, yeah I know. You wanted funny stories. I can just write what is pressing down upon my mind. So today..no "ha ha". Work with me people! Anyway.... I have been reflective this morning. Who me? Yeah, I know.

Given two choices of a road. Which one is better to take?
Do you take road #1...

Do you move a lot, but in those moves you experience things like... Italy....seeing the Mormon Tabernacle Choir sing....the Alamo.....museums....art...hear different kinds of music & languages....meet lots of interesting people in all walks of life...see mountain tops....streams & mighty rivers...deserts...beaches...oceans...travel different back roads & towns...& experience things that you can't experience on just a vacation. Experience things, that you only can by living somewhere for awhile.?

OR

Do you live in the same place all your days & experience a life of familiarity & security.....with the same neighbors that you can count on..family all around to depend on..never having to say goodbye...& build a life of tradition & stability?

What say you?
